8 Micro-Habits For Increased Energy
Productivity stems from three components: adopting the right tools and processes, learning to focus, and mastering your energy levels.
The latter is particularly interesting: it’s the easiest part, but it’s also the most overlooked one.
Our energy levels are a direct consequence of our lifestyle. A good lifestyle energizes us, a bad one burns us out.
Eight micro-habits helped me increase my energy levels. I do not always stick to them, but I did experiment with them thoroughly:
- Improve and stick to a sleeping pattern: develop morning and evening routines to help you make the most of your nights, follow the sun, try power naps.
- Exercise daily: walk and/or practice a sport.
- Get work done or exercise before breakfast, and drink plenty of water right after you wake up. It’s especially good when you wake up early.
- Avoid alcohol/drugs, processed sugar, and coffee. Alcohol reduces your REM sleep. Sugar and coffee mess up your energy levels: giving them up stabilizes your energy levels throughout the day.
- Take cold showers.
- Avoid distractions and decision fatigue.
- Practice NoFap. Studies regarding NoFap are few and contradicting. Having tried it a few times for up to a month, I did feel a huge difference every single time after a few days, so it works in my case.
- Frequently meet up with people.
