Feels Like Summer

The breeze is fresh and smells of sunflowers. I can feel it dancing on my skin as I’m laying down on a bed of lush grass, the eyes closed, the breathing slow and calm. Time slows down. The sunlight hitting the nearest building’s wall makes it look like a golden idol. The whole city is enveloped in its radiance, gently cooking, and soon melting under the heat. As I awake from my slumber, the day comes to an end. I take the bike laying besides me and start heading home. During Summer, life in South-Western France happens at night. The scorching sun gives room to the neon party lights and the sparks of the barbecue grill. We share a meal at the outdoor table, surrounded by the sounds of crickets and birds. The event lasts long into the night. We open the windows while switching off a few lights to prevent the insects from coming in. I fire up my laptop to write a few words and let the night carry my imagination in another place out of time and space.
