Homemade Gym
I came back to France two days ago. I was craving the simple life of the countryside, and here I am. My aim over the summer is on recovering from the last few months by focusing on my work and my health. Regarding the latter, I set on gaining some mass and getting back into a training regimen.
I want to do some weight training, but most shops have ran out of free weights to sell. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a Youtube channel a few months ago, teaching how to build your own gym from scratch with very few materials. As a maker, I was instantly hooked on the idea.
Today, I built the foundations for a squat rack doubling as a pull-up bar. It’s 2m50 high and cost me $0 with used wooden beams.
Tomorrow I’m adding reinforcements and it will be ready to use. It can be moved around the backyard by two persons to follow the sun.
I also would like to change the design to make it blend in. Something like a birdhouse or small flower pots.
Next on my list of things to add to my gym is a few cement weights. The tricky part is calculating the exact amount of materials I’ll need to make exactly 10kg weights. It’s not a difficult math problem, but it’s still a lot of numbers.
I already own an Olympic barbell so that’s pretty much all I need right now to settle into an efficient workout routine.
