Settling Down

I’ve been a digital nomad for the last two years, moving from one city to another every month or so. I miss having a more long-term place I can call home.

My parents’ house in South West France is the closest I have to a base, but it’s not my base.

Without giving up on my digital nomad life, I decided to settle down in Bordeaux, France. I’ll be living with my brother from September onwards.

We are only looking for the right place to rent for now, but this is going to happen.

Why Bordeaux, you might ask.

Well, it’s a mid-sized city (250,000) two hours from the Atlantic ocean and the Pyrenees mountains with a good public transportation system and plenty of nice places to meet new people.

There are plenty of green spaces, and it’s near the Landes forest.

It’s also an hour by train from where my family lives, well connected to Paris by train, and to the world by an international airport.

Last but not least, it’s close to two European cycling routes: the Atlantic Coast Route spanning from Scotland to Portugal, and the Pilgrims Route taking travelers from Norway to Santiago de Compostela. If I feel like slow traveling, I just have to take my bike and go on an adventure.

I’m quite excited about the new opportunities it will create for my life as a maker. More on that later.
