Teaching Sustainable Web Development

I’m thinking about creating a business around sustainable web development.

I spent the last few months working on designing better web apps using concepts such as static-generated websites, progressive web apps, and green web development. Now that everyone is locked inside with time to kill, and with the unemployment rate reaching a peak, it’s never been more profitable to learn how to code.

The path taken by organizations and individuals to approach web development is archaïc. I believe there are more eco-friendly, performant, and accessible ways for everyone to go about it.

This is why I decided I’m going to dedicate more time to create a written course on sustainable web development.

The reason why I’m prioritizing it now is a long story that I’ll briefly summarize. I’m stuck in Budapest with three roommates for another month. None of them have remote work skills they can use to make money online, but they have plenty of time to learn. The best I can do right now is teaching them how to build web applications and use this experience to improve Cowriters’ new software architecture and exercise my writing skills while creating another income source.

It’s a win-win opportunity: I need a break from making digital products (the last few months working on Bouquin were stressful, to say the least), and I want to spend more time offline during the pandemic.

If you’re interested in this project, I’ll be posting updates regularly, so just stay tuned or don’t hesitate to send me a message to discuss the things you’d be interested for me to cover.
