The Weekends
I’ve lately been enjoying work-free weekends. It’s rarely been the case over the past two years I spent building companies, but I decided it was the right moment to slow down and enjoy the warmth of communal living.
Rather than losing myself in code and marketing campaigns, I take walks. I cook more. I read, write down a few words and ideas. I watch movies. Dance. Sing.
So far, giving myself some time off brought me new insights about the way I want to live my life. I spend too much time working on a laptop by myself locked inside, and not enough outside enjoying the scenery, using my hands, or simply enjoying someone else’s company.
I still have a lot to learn about managing my work/life balance.
My intuition tells me that great work is a matter of both consistency and intensity: you don’t have to work crazy hours, you just need to do a few things regularly and with great focus to decrease the time they require.
Clear day-to-day directions is also a must to avoid the aimless pursuits eating away most of our days.
