Writing Last

I’m trying to leave writing as the last activity of the day.

I must have tried every schedule possible. When I try to write first thing in the morning, I often tend to spend too much time thinking about what I want to write about. During the afternoon, I’m too tired or busy to think.

Waiting for the day to be over gives me time to consume the nutrients I need for a successful session: reading, but also a lot of walking and talking.

Writing at night or late afternoon makes me more creative, because I had a full day to exercise my senses and as many events to review. It’s also a bit more stressful since I don’t want to miss my daily deadline, but I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and power through the feeling.

When I say writing, I mean the act of sitting down to my laptop to edit and publish something, not the drafting phase. Drafting is more atomic in nature: you write notes and outlines whenever the inspiration strikes, it’s not something you need to plan.

Scribbling down and sharing some thoughts is an excellent way to give the day some closure.
